Hua Hin has four international and bilingual schools: Hua Hin International School (HHIS), a full British-to-IB school; Halio International School, a smaller progressive independent school; and two bilingual options, Beaconhouse Yamsaard and the British Educational Children’s Centre (BECC). Annual tuition runs from roughly 150,000 baht at the bilingual end to about 712,000 baht for the top IB years. This guide lays out every school side by side — curriculum, ages, real 2026 fees and location — so you can shortlist quickly.

The schools in detail

Hua Hin International School (HHIS)

The town’s flagship full international school, opened in 2015 on a campus near Black Mountain with lake and mountain views. It runs the English National Curriculum through the early and primary years, moves to Cambridge IGCSE in Years 10–11, and finishes with the IB Diploma in the final two years — a recognised route into universities worldwide. Fees rise by year group, from around 249,000 baht in early years to about 712,000 for the IB Diploma, with a one-time enrolment fee (around 80,000 baht) and a small application fee on top.

Halio International School

A smaller, independent school with a progressive, project-based approach across kindergarten and primary (roughly ages 3–12), taught in English. It groups children by skill level rather than strictly by age. Fees sit around 184,000 baht a year — well below the top IB years at HHIS. Confirm the current age range and programme directly with the school.

Beaconhouse Yamsaard (BYS)

A bilingual school just off Soi 94, five to ten minutes from the town centre. It blends a modified British curriculum with Thai national standards and a Cambridge English program, with both native-English and Thai teachers and small classes. A strong middle option for families who want serious English alongside Thai.

British Educational Children’s Centre (BECC)

A well-regarded UK-curriculum setting focused on the early years and primary stage, with native-English teachers and a learning-through-play approach. A popular first school for younger children before a move to a full international school later.

British, bilingual or independent — which pathway?

The curriculum decides more than the day-to-day; it shapes where your child can go next.

  • British (HHIS, BECC): National Curriculum, then IGCSE, then A-Levels or the IB Diploma. Widely recognised, strong for UK and international universities.
  • Progressive / independent (Halio): a project-based, skill-grouped approach for the early and primary years — a good fit for younger children who thrive outside a rigid year-group system.
  • Bilingual (Beaconhouse): serious English plus Thai language and culture. Good value, and a natural fit if you are settling long term.

The full cost of schooling

Tuition is only part of it. Budget for the extras before you commit:

  • Application fee — a few thousand baht, non-refundable.
  • Enrolment or capital fee — a larger one-time charge (HHIS is around 80,000 baht).
  • Uniforms, books, trips and lunches.
  • Transport if the school is not near home — which is where your choice of area matters.

Schools and where to live

Where you buy should follow where your children learn. HHIS sits on the west side near Black Mountain and Thap Tai, so families at that school often look at villas in the same green, low-density area — a short, easy school run rather than a daily fight through town. Our Thap Tai area guide and best areas to live in Hua Hin guide show how the neighbourhoods line up, and you can see family-sized homes on our private pool villas page.
